Dear meadowlark community of eaters, How did you sleep last night??? Everyone around here admitted to nervous insomnia and a fear that their house was due to blow down. We hope that you fared the storms of june alright! We have a low lying garden that has 6" of standing water, and thus the broccoli are floating like waterlillies. They should be fine once the water either steeps in or, evaporates with the gusts of wind that are blowing through today. Today's boxes bring to you: salad mix, romaine lettuce, napa chinese cabbage, baby hakkurei turnips, rainbow chard, spinach, cutting celery(in the little waxed bag), shallots and garlic scapes. Asparagus for premiums and strawberries for fruit shares. Please, if you receive a fruit share, take time to read the attached note on your bag. What in the world is a garlic scape? The type of garlic we grow is called "hardneck" and is winter hardy with big cloves and a delicious bite. We love this garlic, once called "german red".
